Report from Mr Sayer on Wednesday 14th June's Oliver Curd Trust Football Tournament:

With the school being holders for the past 3 years, we entered the tournament feeling the pressure. This was reflected in their performance as they weren't themselves and we lost to Beckley 2 - 0!

After a short break and a team talk, we relaxed and went in to the next game needing to win. The team played superbly and beat Peasmarsh 3-0 deservedly. This put us through the group and in the semi final against unbeaten Icklesham who were very strong.

Both teams played well and it was an even game finishing 0-0. Sudden death penalties preceded, we won the toss and took the 2nd penalty. Up they stepped and Kian saved it! Oliver was ready to take ours and was nervous, if he scored we were in the final and what a penalty that was!

We went into the final with everyone excited as we were against Beckley again. The game was tight but we were the better side and Kian made a save and when he took his goal kick he saw the keeper was slightly off the line and tried his luck and what a brilliant effort it was - he scored! We made a few changes and the game was close at the end with Kian making some superb saves including a 1 on 1.

Player of the tournament was Kian. You were all amazing! Myself, Mr Gurr, Mr Croft and Miss Kearney were all very nervous but it was great to watch.

I will miss you all next year when you move on to secondary school - well done!
