Religious Education and Worldviews
At Rye Community Primary School, the Religious Education curriculum aligns with the EYFS framework and the national curriculum. It aim is to help children learn from and about religion, so they can understand the world around them. The curriculum focuses on developing a knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions in the UK, as well as an appreciation of how religious beliefs shape life and behaviour. It seeks to enhance children's ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues, thus supporting their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. British Values are also taught as part of the RE curriculum, ensuring children are aware of their rights and responsibilities as UK citizens and is designed to encourage creativity, imagination, enquiry, debate, discussion, and independence.
