PSHE/RSE
At Rye Community Primary School, the PSHE curriculum aligns with the aims of the EYFS framework and the national curriculum. Its aim is to enable children to become independent, confident, healthy and responsible members of society. The curriculum focuses on developing the holistic needs of children - intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually - allied to the school’s ethos of 'Dream, Believe and Achieve.' Our aspiration is for all children to be willing to try new things, persevere to show resilience when faced with challenges, understand how to stay safe and healthy, develop positive relationships, display compassion towards others and recognize the importance of mental health and well-being.
Children must also understand be provided with an education that prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. We understand our responsibility to deliver to every primary-aged pupil a high-quality and age-appropriate relationships, sex and health curriculum. A key part of this relates to relationships (focussing on giving children the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships and to build their self-efficacy) and health education (focussing on equipping children with the knowledge they need to make good decisions about their own health and wellbeing).
