At Rye Community Primary School, our languages curriculum aligns with the EYFS framework and the national curriculum. Its aims are to inspire a love of languages, expand horizons to other countries, cultures and people and help children grow into curious, confident and reflective language learners, as well as providing a foundation for further language studies into secondary school. Our intention is to ensure that learning French is an enjoyable experience for both children and teachers through a carefully planned sequence of lessons that progressively cover the skills required by the national curriculum. The curriculum aims to foster children curiosity, deepen their understanding of the world and introduce them to the culture of French-speaking countries and communities. Children have opportunities to speak with increasing confidence and fluency through regular practice which improves the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
